SunSet Murray Tour Trip
** SAND FLAGS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS TRIP **
This trip is being used as a training excersie for the up and coming Simpson Trip. You will need to be able to
cover 850Kms without a fuel stop and carry everything that you need for the weekend on you, on the go.
Exactly the same as if we were doing the Simpson Trip. The track will be sandy and labouring but no way near as
hard as the Simpson, so this trip should make everybody aware of what they can do and what they cant do. We
need to treat it as a practice run for our up and coming Simpson Trip. We will top up at Mannum before leaving
civilization and you will not see a fuel station until we return to Mannum, 850kms later. You will need to carry
fuel to cover the whole trip.
Friday Night 6th - Night drive from Mt Pleasant Oval to Pheenys Track Entrance, to the Border Track, where we
head to a little camp area, just in 500 metres, off Pheeny's Track.
Saturday 7th - First up we will travel down the top half of the Border Track and then across the Sunset Marray
National park to Mt Crozier Camp ground for the Saturday Nights camp.
Sunday 8th - Depart Mt Crozier camp ground and head for Shearers Quaters Camping Area, via Mopke Hut,
lunch at Rocket Lake and and afternoon stroll back through to Shearers Quaters Camp.
Monday 9th - Depart the Shearers Quaters Camping Area and head for the Border track and onto Peebunga
where we can air up and head back to Purana and back home via the Goodooloo road through to Mannum where
we can refuel and head back home.
There will be 3 single separate campsites, all are free.
No Caravans/Campervans. Off-road light weight camper trailers good enough to do the Simpson is what we
are asking, as this is pratice for the Simpson Trip. This is a Mallee area and the trees are not tall, but they can
cover the track. High vehicles may have to dodge the trees. We have many miles to cover and wont have time
for manuervoring caravans through this trip in the same way that we will not being doing it for people travelling
with us on the Simpson Trip. Firewood is scarce to none, so if everyone could at least bring some firewood this
will ensure we have a nice fire each night.
No dogs allowed as we will be in National Parks
Track Rating:
All tracks in this trip are largely unmaintained, requiring low tyre pressures of (10-18 psi) and good
clearance 4x4s to cope with sections of deep, soft sand. Carrying a shovel, recovery equipment and
traction aids such as MaxTrax is highly recommended.

Bri Glen Springs
Bri-Glen Springs has been around for many years, Gawler and Districts 4WD Club has
been going there since before 2010. It is a very similar place to Terrowie but it has
more history and old sites to see. Terrowie is literally only 22Kms around the corner.
Bri-Glen is a property just south of Terowie, around 5000 acres in total size. The
owner, Brian Sambell, has offered us the use of a 355 acre fenced area. The enclosure
joins a large creek (Wonna) and a nature reserve, which is leased by the property
owners. We would also have access to drive the many other 4WD tracks on the
Bri-Glen property. This is an awesome opportunity to gain access to another large
piece of land for the use of four wheel driving.
Self-sufficient camping so bring your own food and water as well as your own chemical
toilet. All persons staying on the property must be self sufficient with their own port-apotty.
BYO food & beverages of choice.

Chalks Campground
Please join us on our relaxing weekend at Chalks CampGround.
The Object of the weekend is to have a campfire cook off competiton and
have a bit of fun and relax, while enjoying the clubs company.
Camping permits can be obtained online. I stress we must all get onto this
and book early enough to get the sites. I have already booked site 21.
Would be nice to get everybody in that corner together.
